Friday night at West End - Jam Session jazz

Hi Guys,
Last week I was invited by a friend of mine that I've met in an Irish pub during a Jam session.
This guy is Phil, he plays bass and double bass. Phil invited me in a small restaurant in West End where he was playing with his jazz trio.

That was quite nice cuz I also invited another friend of mine, Bruce who's a good guitar player and Susana a female vocalist...we had a lot of fun and those guys are quite good musos and very friendly.
+ i met a lot of nice people there and one of my Cameroonian friend Ambassa came to listen to the music...that was quite exciting! The place is : Checocho bar, 69 hardgrave rd west end (Brisbane), good food as well!!!
We were a nice team : 2 guitar player, one bass, drummer, a female vocalist...and all our groupies...ah ah We might play there again in April, so if you feel like a jazz dinner...you'll be more than welcome!

A special thanks to Yolanda for the pics cuz i never take my camera when I go to a Jam so i never have any pics...hopefully that she came from japan specialy for that! :)

Actually I also play every Tuesday night from 7:30 pm in a irish pub in the Caxton Street...so if you want to listen and play, you're more than welcome.

Gretchen Parlato in Brisbane, jazz singer

Tonight I went to listen to a jazz singer : Gretchen Parlato, yes in Brisbane! That was great again, very nice voice, very fine and smooth...That was my second time to go to the the Brisbane Powerhouse and it was nice again, this place is really a good artistic place.

Based in New York, Gretchen Parlato has created a buzz in the jazz world. She was the first vocalist to be accepted into the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz Performance and her debut album was named number 5 Best Progressive Jazz CD of 2005 by Jazz Nation.
Fusing jazz, Brazilian, and African elements, Gretchen’s ethereal sound and pure vocal prowess have led her to study and perform with jazz luminaries Dianne Reeves, Oscar Castro-Neves, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Terence Blanchard, Lionel Loueke and Dave Holland.

Experience the extraordinary magic of Gretchen Parlarto as she scats, coos and leaps through complex tempo and rhythmic shifts in one of the most highlyanticipated concerts.

Here's a small video I've made tonight, enjoy it and please visit her website.
