Par xavier minali, Wednesday 16 January 2008 à 22:33 :: Living in Australia
Welcome again to my blog,
Last week end, I went to Perth, the far west of Australia to visit some friend of mine!
That was a great experience because of course I didn't know at all this part of the country and the friend I have there are cameroonians! There are not so many cameroonian in Australia, that why I took the time to go there to visit them to feel a bit of African spirit. I had a great time, and we all had a lot of fun, beach, club, tourism etc....
When I arrived in Perth, my first impression was : "emptiness"! no one in those modern street amongst those huge futuristic huge buildings at 1am!!!
Sorry for those who live there but coming from east Australia I felt like the house was too big for such a small population....However, the city is beautiful, people are friendly, always open to talk and socializing etc....and the business seems to be really dynamic!
After that, I went to Mandurah, a city located 80 kms from Perth in the south, beautiful spot, nice beaches, nice peoples and a perfect weather lol;
my friend also took me to the famous Freemantle spot with is nice marine, where we had a diner in a Mexican restaurant. Actually those places are very European by the lifestyle, compare to the rest of Australia, at least what I know so far.
My cameroonian friend have been really nice with me, I felt like at home, they took the time to drive me everywhere to show me around how is this magnificent area.
Sunday afternoon, I met Terry and her husband Dave, Terry is starting a cosmetic business in Perth, I will probably tell you more about here later, you might be interested by her shop + she has a great personality. So as a web designer and business man, obviously we had a lot to talk ah ah...
Actually, i met all those cameroonian through an Australian African community website : africanoz
Very interesting website, I strongly advice you to visit the community area.
Please, Click here or on the picture to see photos of my trip.
So this trip was very exciting because it's was the first time for me to meet cameroonians in Australia + go so far away in this country! I realized how big is Australia, the distance...a flight of almost 6 hours! I remember that when I was living in Cameroon, 6 hours of flight was the time to go from Douala to Paris...for us it was a huge trip for overseas.
Here is the map of the cities where I went.
