11 years of Liberal party rule comes to an end11 years of Liberal party rule comes to an end

Kevin Rudd (left) stormed to power in Australia as their first new prime minister,
bringing an end to the conservative era of John Howard.

It's now official, Australian has chosen Kevin Rudd, the Labor leader.
That's was very interesting for me to follow this campaign, specially after the huge campaign of last year in France. Here in Australia, the debate is not that strong and politic don't take such a place in aussies life.

BRISBANE (Reuters) - Australia's incoming Labor Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, a Mandarin-speaking former diplomat, has pledged closer ties with key friends and allies after sweeping away 11 years of conservative rule under John Howard.

Rudd, 50, presented himself as a new generation leader by promising to pull around 500 frontline Australian troops out of Iraq and sign the Kyoto Protocol on climate change, further isolating Washington on both issues.

Howard, who on Sunday went for his regular morning walk in the wake of defeat, had won four consecutive elections and was Australia's second-longest serving prime minister behind Liberal Party founder Sir Robert Menzies.

Week end in Moreton Island...

Hello all,
i' still traveling around to discover this fabulous state, the QUEENsland...
Last week end i went to Moreton Island with a friend of me and that was quite funny. This friend went there a couple of years ago but didn't really remember how wild it was!!!
Thus, we took the wrong boat and istead of arriving in the south of the island, we arrived in the north which is desert. The boat dropped us on the beach at 9:30 Pm...there were no shop, no houses, just a campground and no light...back to the root mate !!!
Eventually we collected some wood stick a did a small campfire, hopefully that we had at least the guitar.
But that was quite funny, because we expected a developed tourist place and we had to deal with nothing...very good experience, that was peaceful.

About Moreton, only what i saw, the beaches are beautiful and very safe, waves are less strong than in Australia.
Moreton Island is a unique island wilderness with sparkling clear water and white sandy beaches. It is one of the few untouched areas of natural wilderness along the East Coast of Australia. Moreton Island is situated just 35 kilometres from Brisbane in the Moreton Bay Marine Park.
Sorry, but we forgot our camera and had to take the photos with my Mobile, the quality is pretty bad, but that better than nothing :)
Sorry for that.

Kevin, my friend.

Me in Moreton island campground - just in out of sleepingbag...

Also the concert was in a beautifull place, that i didn't know (yeah i'm still new in Brisby...), The Brisbane Powerhouse.
This is an artistic center, very nice place, located along the Brisbane River in New Farm, with a restaurant etc...Good sound! It's a great place that i would recomend, even just to have a walk around. For a Jazz concert, this is a magic place!
