Trip to Echo Hills near ROMA in Queensland

Posted by xminali in Untagged

Last week end, I went to visit some friends in the center of Queensland near ROMA.
It was the first time for me to go that far inland in Australia: I loved it, the drive was a bit long but landscapes are just beautiful.
I was lucky with the weather but also to meet Peter and Nikki who took the time to show me around and explain me how was the lifestyle in the over there.
I learnt a lot - It was fantastic.
We shared some French wine and cheese in the middle of the field!

Here are some photos....

As you can see, I really enjoyed the week end.
The most important thing for me during this travel is that it has changed the image i had of Australia, this cliche of the country for surfing and BBQ.
Meeting with people with different mindset and different mentality than surfing was good for me. I have nothing against surf, i like it, but I think Australia has something else to promote and I realised that many aspect of this country are not promoted and maybe should be.

BP deepwater oil spill leak - Good news ?

BP oil leak - Web consultant, webdesign Brisbane and Sydney

Let's hope for once, that a disaster can be turned into good news.
Certainly, BP deepwater oil spill leak in the Gulf of Mexico is a disaster
for the ecosystem; it is also for the local economy, which will have to
interrupt uncountable activities; for President Obama, who has allowed the
drilling in deepwater for another 28 wells in operation in the Gulf of
Mexico, threatened to be shut.

For shareholders of BP (with millions of
British pensioners) whose assets lost $ 50 million, and should receive nothing
next June 27, while 10 billion dollars were due to be distributed. For the
company, which may have to spend 40 billion dollars to pay all the damages,
to borrow more than the U.S. $ 20 billion which its balance sheet allows to
easily find on the markets and even be threatened with political bankruptcy,
like Yukos in its time, in a context where no insurance company will accept
to cover, except at a prohibitive price and for the British government,
whose international image is tarnished by a company which does not though
carry the name of the country since 1998; for deeply affected Transatlantic
relations, whereas in a symmetrical situation, in 1998, the British had not
accused the United States for the deaths of 167 people on a well in the
North Sea operated by an American company sorely deficient; finally, bad
news for Europe, which once again has no strategy, while its energy
independence is threatened by the reduction in investment of one of its
biggest companies, for the greatest financial and political benefit of the
Gulf countries and their national oil companies.
Yet the disaster could turn into good news if it was an opportunity to
understand that as the subprime crisis, the root cause is not in the
specific negligence of the oil companies (after that of the bankers), but in
the collective unconscious to risk, in the absurd desire for Americans to
consume more than they can afford: as they have mortgaged the future by
going into debt, they are consuming 20% of the world's oil, while they
produce only 2% and they represent only 5% of the world population. And as
they yielded to their bank lobby, they obeyed their oil lobby.

We can then dream of seeing America and Europe understand that they cannot
leave to their energy producing companies, so fundamental to the future of
our countries, the whole weight of the repair of the negligent acts that
their governments asked them to commit. And they should initiate a radical
action to consume much less oil, and very quickly. In any case, this crisis
is like a final warning before the peak oil (expected by some in 2015, and
whose occurrence is accelerated by the slowdown in drilling in deepwater),
puts an end to cheap oil, making the fortune of oil companies and
precipitates the ruin of nations.

Brisbane Jazz band video Documentary

Posted by xminali in Untagged

I'm back in Japan again to organise our next tour, next  Autunm 2010 for the Blue magic Jazz. It's great to be back in Kobe and reonnect with all my friends. Japan is a place close to my heart. For those who don't know, the blue magic jazz quintet (I'm the sax player fo this band) has been on Tour in Kansai last year in Oct 2009.
Being here is a good opportunity to show you the documentary that has been done by - James Goss - Bonbon Photography - for our CD recording last year as a tribute to Kobe City and Jazz - A Waltz in Kobe. The CD was recorded in Byron Bay and James did a fantastic job with the music and images...the atmosphere of the recording is very well retranscribed and you can really feel the mood of the band at that time. This shows you how unique is this Brisbane Jazz band!

For those who has never been in a recording studio, you can see how it looks like,  the ambiance in Byron Bay (Australia) is fantastic for that. Very very good vibe when you're musician!!

James Goss is a professional photographer in Brisbane (http://www.bonbonphoto.com.au/).

He did our famous movie clip for Old Devil Moon. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ytTsVOWO04). FOr both Video, the energy and the mood are very well expressed and transcribed
Please check his website, there are some fantastic photos - really high quality work...and if you're in Australia and you need a photographer, of course go to http://www.bonbonphoto.com.au Laughing

As always, please feel free to share what you think: leave a comment about this Jazz documentary.
